About Clear Ear Clinic
Clear Ear Clinic was founded in 2006 by Mr Simon Gane and Ms Mary Kelly as an independent clinic dedicated to aural care: the assessment and treatment of the ear canal, principally the removal of ear wax by microsuction. We are based at Lister House on Wimpole Street, in the heart of London's medical district, and we are registered with the Care Quality Commission and rated Good in all domains.
Our clinical team
Mr Simon Gane — Consultant ENT Surgeon and Rhinologist, Co-founder and Registered Manager
Simon is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (ORL-HNS) and holds their diploma in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. He has used the microsuction technique to clean ears for over fifteen years, and founded Clear Ear Clinic with Mary in 2006. His NHS practice is at the Royal National Ear, Nose and Throat and Eastman Dental Hospitals, and he is the ENT surgeon for Moorfields Eye Hospital. Simon is the registered manager of the clinic with the Care Quality Commission.
Mary — Nursing Clinician, Co-founder
Mary is a nursing clinician with a special interest in otology and aural microsuction since 1981. She is a member of the Royal College of Nursing and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. She was Matron of the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital and of the Royal Free Hospital outpatient services, holds an MBA, and co-founded Clear Ear Clinic.
Christine — Clinical Manager
Christine is a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and a member of the Royal College of Nursing. She has over eighteen years of experience in ENT at the Royal Free Hospital and the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, and spent nine years as an ENT specialist nurse in the Royal Free outpatient department, running a nurse-led microsuction wax-removal clinic.
Rosa — Trainee Aural Care Nurse
Rosa holds a Masters in Nursing Science and is a registered nurse. She has completed advanced training in pharmacology, physiology, examination and prescribing. Her background is primarily in emergency departments and primary care, where she developed her interest in ENT. She diagnoses and treats ear complaints, and is developing her interest in microsuction at Clear Ear Clinic.
Aneta — Aural Hygienist
Aneta trained as a general nurse and is registered in the Slovak Republic. She has worked as a healthcare assistant at the Royal Free Hospital since 2007, where she developed a special interest in ENT and microsuction, and completed her microsuction and aural care training at Clear Ear Clinic.

Regulated care
Clear Ear Clinic is registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Many ear wax removal and high-street audiology providers are not CQC registered; we are, so our clinicians, our safety and our record-keeping are independently inspected. At our most recent inspection we were rated Good in every category: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. You can read our CQC assessment (location ID 1-2490807723).
